I am an Assistant Professor at the department of Languages, Literature and Communication at Utrecht University. In my projects I apply language technology to extract relevant insights from communication on social media and human-chatbot interactions in a diversity of case studies in collaboration with societal partners. My work at Utrecht University is aimed at improving how governmental institutions communicate to the general public. I am particularly interested in the pragmatic aspects of communication and the role of cognitive and cultural context for understanding the meaning of an utterance.
