My primary research interests lie in connecting mathematical and computational linguistics with mainstream syntax. I am curious about questions like “What makes a language a human language?” and “What kinds of languages can different kinds of grammars describe?”. In relation to these questions, I am using neural networks to build linguistic models. In addition, I have also been exploring very language-specific questions like “How does Q’anjob’al express concepts like ‘myself'”?
